Champagne Drappier

 

The Drappier vineyards are the basis on which the essence and consistency of our Cuvées are built.

Our ancestors chose only those vineyards which are particularly well exposed, with a high chalk content in the soil, producing characterful wines.

On nearly 40 hectares at Urville, the Pinot Noir is king (70%), whilst the Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier (15%) give balance to the blends.

The vines at Cramant supply the majority of the Chardonnay, whilst the Pinot Noir comes mainly from the Montagne de Reims along with Bouzy and Ambonnay.

Thus there are nearly 75 hectares, which are very individual due to their geology and climate, helping to form the unmistakable basis of the Drappier production.

Cultivated with special care, the family vineyard has been fertilized with natural manures just as they were in the last century. The methods used are simple, not to say basic, in order that nature can express itself freely. The crop coming from these vineyards thus produces wines which faithfully reflect the "terroir".
